This time up, I would build the loft and start siding the cabin. For the loft, I framed it out and used planks on top. I built the loft support into the wall framing with 4x4's. For the front siding, I was lucky enough to find a bundle of cedar shake shingles in my grandmother's garage! She generously gave them to me for use on the cabin, and I decided to side the front side of the cabin with them. I'm very happy with the outcome. I also installed the first window on the front before siding.
